At time of writing, the network is permissioned to verified operators and Launch partners, meaning that directly staking ETH is only possible via our partners' protocols, which are gradually launching.

In addition, validators running on SSV are able to benefit from active-active redundancy & fault tolerance.
That means that if one node operator goes down (in a cluster size of 4) then the remaining 3 will keep it operational.
This greatly maximizes uptime and risk of penalties
